Computers for Beginners
This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and operations necessary to use computers. Emphasis is placed on basic functions and familiarity with computer use. Topics include: computer terminology, introduction to the windows environment, introduction to word processing, and introduction to spreadsheets.
Ordenadores para principiantes (Computadoras básica)
Este curso presenta a los estudiantes los conceptos y operaciones fundamentales necesarios para usar las computadoras. Se hace hincapié en las funciones básicas y la familiaridad con el uso de la computadora. Los temas incluyen: terminología informática, introducción al entorno de Windows, introducción al procesamiento de textos e introducción a las hojas de cálculo.
High School Equivalency
The Adult Basic Education (ABE) high-school equivalency (HSE) offers courses, pretesting and testing in Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies to students who seek to receive high school diplomas. As of December 31, twenty-nine St. Felix Pantry Learning Center students have received their high school equivalency diplomas. St. Felix Pantry Learning Center assists students who have received their high school equivalency diplomas obtain jobs or continue their education toward certification in various technical fields or degrees in professional careers.
How to Get a Job/Soft Skills
A four-week class assisting students obtain the skills needed for employment; prepare effective resumes; properly interview for jobs; and introduce students to potential employers.
English as a Second Language
This class is on basic communication in students' new language, with listening and speaking development. The formal skills of writing, reading, vocabulary and grammar will progress, along the lines of everyday situations, interesting contexts, and a variety of material.
Esta clase es sobre comunicación básica en el nuevo idioma de los estudiantes, con desarrollo para escuchar y hablar. Las habilidades formales de escritura, lectura, vocabulario y gramática progresarán, en la línea de situaciones cotidianas, contextos interesantes y una variedad de material.
Spanish as A Second Language
This class is on basic communication in conversational Spanish, with listening and speaking development. The formal skills of writing, reading, vocabulary and grammar will progress, along the lines of everyday situations, interesting contexts, and a variety of material.
Financial Responsibility
A ten week course teaching students to develop their financial skills, increase credit scores, develop banking relationships and the basics of home ownership.
